Act Two: NPCs

The Lut Gholein wilderness.

Act Two takes place in faraway Lut Gholein, which is a prosperous desert city where the sorcerer order called the Vizjerai once reigned supreme. If you'll recall, the sorcerer from Diablo was a member of the Vizjerai. Of all the acts, act two has the most NPCs. As in act one, you'll also be able to hire help for your adventures, but in this act, it is warriors that will answer your call to arms. Here are some of the NPCs you will meet in Lut Gholein.

Greiz: Griez is the captain of the mercenary guards. He is in charge of the defense of the city and might be persuaded to lend you some of his warriors if you can complete a quest for him.

Drognan: A sorcerer who sells magic and miscellaneous items, Drognan has a mysterious, tragic past that is somehow related to Tristram during the events that transpired there in the original Diablo.

Lysander: Lysander is an alchemist who sells potions, herbs, and elixirs.

A native of Lut Gholein.

Atma: A simple home-owner, Atma is an NPC who will offer some stories and information about Lut Gholein, although she isn't vital to any quests.

Jerhyn: The lord of the city is Jerhyn. He greets you in the beginning of the act and then makes himself scarce until a crucial time later. He will grant you access to his palace once you have proven your trustworthiness.

Meshif: Meshif is the ship's captain who can take you to act three.

Fara: Fara is an armorer in Lut Gholein from whom you can purchase excellent armor and weapons.

Elzix: The owner of the inn in Lut Gholein, Elzix was once a bandit who raided caravans from the west. He has since settled down and given up his evil ways and now runs an establishment for tired travelers.

Tal Rasha: Tal Rasha was a Horadrim hero who challenged the evil devil Baal. Unfortunately, the soul stone that was meant to contain Baal was broken, so Tal Rasha had to use his own body to imprison the devil. After he successfully contained Baal, he ordered his men to bury him below the sands in a great tomb. Blizzard North says you will meet this tragic hero, but will it be as Tal Rasha, or as the devil who lurks inside him?
